Last night i lay in bed thinking about topics for the forum. Since we have covered sexual and physical topics I decided to start a thread on the spiritual side of things. So I started to think about life and then of course death. Now I was going to ask "Do you believe in an afterlife" but I started to think about the word Afterlife. Yknow mostly about the After bit. What if theres a Fore life. Like the buddhist belief that you keep reincarnating until you reach nirvana. What if we have an unlimited ammount of Fore lifes and when we die now we reincarnate, so that our afterlife is actually just another Forelife. And then that continues untill we reach our Perfect life. Our Heaven. Anyone here think Im insane?

I'm pretty sure that Buddhist's don't believe in reincarnation. Just Hindu's.

Ok, It's just I read alot about Buddhist's and Zen a few years ago, and I'm pretty sure they don't. And Buddhism isn't a real religion. It doesn't have a Creator/God. It's really just a system of beliefs.

A lot of my friends believe that you continually repeat your life, over and over again.
A lot of people need to believe something like this, as it makes them feel like they have something to look forward to, or they think that there is more point to their life than there actually is.
The most probable explaination is that we live, we die, the end. The human spirit is an idea which man came up with. It has never been recorded on any sort of scale or instrument, and there is no place in the body where it resides.
I may be proven wrong, but by that time I will be dead...

Ok, so if reincarnation is true, how come the population keeps growing? Where are these new souls coming from?

Ok. First off, there is no such thing as an after-life. Religion for that matter was only created to sustain a social structure. After we die, there is going to be NOTHING. Look at it in a historical sence. The anciet eygptions used religion to harness their control over the peasents. In Roman times, Gods were used to give hope to those people who were poor. WHY ELSE DID THE PEASENTS NOT REVOLT AGAINST THEIR SUPERIORS. Religion was only created to give the upper class more power over the less fortunate.

But on a lighter note both budhists and hindus beleive in reincarnation they just use different metaphors for the word and also beleive it occurs in different stages of ones many life cycles. Do i beleive in it i dont know have not really thought about it that much maybe there is maybe not probably only one way to find out kill somebody and then ask them.......lol

Maybe thats true Veggy but thats a very pessimistic point of view. Maybe, just maybe they need to believe in something. Some people need to believe in something God, Allah, Weed whatever it is they need it. It keeps them from thinking about how pointless this Life of ours is. Without belief in something better what point is there. Im not saying I believe in God what I will tell you is that I do believe. I cant be quite sure right now exactly what it is but deep down I know. Call it Love. Im gonna quote Lennon for this "Love is ALL you need". I know i believe in Love. That keeps me from thinking "Fuck me its pointless getting up today"

A good point Prom, but it still lacks realism. You can't deny the argument I have made. However you too make a good point as to people needing hope.
Maybe there is a god, maybe there is an afterlife, maybe theres nothing. I am not here to change someones ideals, only to express mine, and I personally believe in nothing, but myself.

Thats fair. I wont dispute someones beliefs, it is on a very rare occasion that someone will just change their mind about something they feel strongly. But I will ask to what extent are your beliefs? Do you not believe in Love? Do you not wake up thinking maybe today. Maybe ill find her today. Maybe this is my day.

hmm, I don't know how to answer that. I lost my faith a long time ago, but I fail to see the connection between having faith in a god, and hope in ones-self.
