What are some fuels that burn quietly and bright, that are easy to get? Everclear alcohol (190 proof) is nice, but it goes kinda fast. Any additions?

Flash powder which is plasticised with glycerin or mineral oils burns extremely slow for flash powder and is extremely bright. All alcohols in my experience burn pretty brightly and somewhat slowly. Of course Things which are finely misted like things being sprayed will burn more brightly but much faster. carberator cleaner for cars and lawnmowers and the like burns pretty damn bright too. We used to use carb cleaner to light camp fires in boyscoiuts. Squirt it all over a log and then throw a burning papertowel at it.

Any type of non-oxidized welders' torch. Turn the gas flow down low.

You could buy some of those little mini-pie shaped flashers that come around near July 4th. Those things only make minimal noise and If you put it in a room, that shit could almost blind you.

They could blind you. They put out a lot of light on both the visible and ultraviolet spectrums.
