Almost every Slipknot song is full of metaphors. In fact, I can't think of any that aren't.

To me, punk music today is crap. I have no problem with punk music, but most music today isn't punk.
Good Charlotte, April ChaChing, and Newfound Glory are all such little posers. I don't like the way they have pretended to be little punks by screaming that they wanna break something. As much as I don't like them, I have to give them credit for tricking our little brothers and sisters into thinking thier cool and buying their CD, and copying their already copied style.
I've said it before, good music; truly good music, has passed us by. Today people are more concerned with image than their music. They just want to be proffesional popular people. Shows like TRL and the whole channel MTV only help them in doing this.
We need MTV like it was when if first came out, just music. That's why I only watch MTV2.

As far as Im concerned Punk music is dead today. As Money said those bands that claim to be punk today are nothing but wannabes but to be honest it aint their fault. Corporations see an opportunity to make a quick buck and they take it. It would be a very big person who will say no to easy money. Dont blame them for their flaws it's what makes people like you and me realise how easy it is to convince people (sheep) of what they should like according to what they aree told. It makes me feel more human.

like i said on the other site,
i dont think punk is gone, or dead or anything. i just think that the term punk is being thrown around way too loosely. i know a lot of bands who are punk, i go to shows and see new bands all the time. but, it is changing and the number of "disneyland punk" bands greatly outnumbers the "true" punk bands. but who am i to say what punk is or should be these days, i wasnt even alive when it was started. its just moving in a different direction then i think it was intended to. it started off as a way to express your feelings about the world and rebel against the mainstream of society. now a lot of "punk" bands are singing about breaking up and partying just like all the other POPular music. its now cool to be punk. so im just saying that the spirit of it and what punk used to stand for is dying.

I'm not sure that it is fair to say that Punk is dead. It is very far from dead! The reason that we are not seeing it, is because it is no longer in the mainstream. Nobody really wants to listen to it anymore. Is it any wonder where we are listening to backstreet boys, avril la vigne? you know stuff like that at number one every week. Peoples minds are very much perverted.
I know there is a punk scene going on out there, and although I am not part of it I admire those who are (to a certain extent) In a place in southern california, Fallbrook, there is a quite a good punk scene with small bands. The whole Southern Cali area is littered with it if you wanna look?
So that's all I have to say for now! By the way, I like Punk but am not a fan.
