People tend to underestimate the badassitude of documentary filmmaking. But in my case, I like nonfiction because I live in a fictitious world... (let's see who gets that).
Anyway, what are your favorite documentaries? Mine are:
Bowling for Columbine - It's hilarious, and it proves that Dick Clark is a total asshole, proving my theory. MUHAHAHA! And no, morons, he's not arguing for gun control. If you can watch that movie and think he's asking for gun control, you're a dickbrain.
Fear and Loathing on the Road to Hollywood: A 1978 BBC Omnibus show. It's very cool. Hunter S. Thompson (Raoul Duke, for those of you who haven't gotten off your lazy asses and read the actual book) and Ralph Steadman (Thompson's illustrator, that crazy bastard) go to Hollywood with a camera crew. It's neat, and it kind of shows that Thompson is at least somewhere near as crazy as Duke. For anyone who likes Thompson's stuff, it's a good show. It's included in the Criterion Collection 2-Disc Special Edition of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (along with shitloads of other stuff, that's an awesome DVD).
