They have stripped our rights to own a firearm. They have introduced the GST (Goods & Services Tax) which basically means we pay 10% more on nearly every item we purchese.
We can't just walk to the river and go fishing, a licence needs to be purchased. To take the boat out, i need 3 licences, one for the car, one for the boat and one to fish. Plus 3 registrations, one for the car, one for the boat and another for the boat trailer.
It's illegal to carry a knife, even if it's to peel an orange.
The speed limit is being reduced to 50km/h (about 30mile/h) for all towns and cities. And now they are bringing in GPS speed governors for speeding motorists to make the vehicle impossible to exceed the speed limit.
If your car stereo is heard outside the vehicle, about $100 fine and 2 points off your licence. You only get 12. A non factory air filter, theres another 2 points and fine etc etc the list goes on.
And they call Australia the lucky country. What a joke.

Sounds like Australia is becoming more and more like Britain every day. Same speed limits, licence points system, illegality of dangerous weapons... although I can legally carry a knife under 5" from tip to the end of the handle, as far as I know.

It's exactly like Ireland, except Ireland is worse. Here, they have reduced the pub opening hours (again). If you are under 21, you have to have a valid Garda ID on you to drink alcohol. Smoking is soon to be illegal in all pubs, night clubs and all other public buildings.
As for the 10%. Be happy T, we have to pay 21%.

Don't worry the 10% is bound to increase after the next election. That figure was just a carrot being dangled before our eyes to make it sound good so it could be introduced. Same deal with the smoking in pubs, they have smoke free zones but they are pushing to ban it completely. It's only a matter of time. Also yes, without a photo drivers licence or age card it's nearly impossible to get in to a club. Pubs arn't too bad yet. So do you need a licence to walk to the river or lake and go fishing yet? Trust there to be a similar thread on Totse, what prompted me to write this was the introduction of the GPS speed regulated cars just on the news. I HATE the government telling me what the hell i can do to my own car, they don't own it...I frigging do. Never mess with a white mans automobile. Signed... T. Wedd

For a looong time here in Ireland you needed a licence to fish. Going to the river or lake is ok, but fishing isn't. Infact, even to fish for salmon, you need another licence other than the standard fishing licence.

Yeah, you need a fishing license here too, and even then it has it's limitations to what fish you can keep and fishing on Sundays is totally forbidden.

It has been illegal to sell any sort of pressurised aerosol to under eighteens in the UK for as long as I remember, due to solvent abuse. Apart from lighter refill, thought, it isn't hard for a juvenile to buy aerosols.
Sniffing spray paint? Wouldn't that be lethal, even in comparison to sniffing any other sort of solvent? It's paint, for fuck sake...

Sunday's probably the best day to go fishing without a licence. Looks like we arn't the only country being slowly screwed. Signed... T. Wedd

All horrible, but at least our politicians aren't putting in a Partiot Act II down under (just yet anyway). However, all those regulations are bullshit. I hate not being able to buy butane for my lighter without my parents accompaning me.
I read once that it was possible Australia might one day become the 51st state of America. While I doubt it would ever happen, if it did I would be the first to take up active arms against government property.

Isn't Australia still a Commonwealth country? Then it would be impossible to become a state on the US.
