How to hide your files from anyone The only reason you are reading this is because you need to hide something from someone either: porn <- that stuff is bad (o man me and my morals) or hack related stuff <- that stuff is good =) Trojans are fun
so whatever, if you want to hide something what you need to do is to hide it very "DEEP". what i mean by DEEP is that if the file or document or program is searched for, it won't be found because Windows is gay and it only searches thru 10 subdirectories Subdirectories are the folders inside folders basically here is a CLASSIC way of hiding files: go to My Computer, (I'll wait =)) now go to C: now go to Windows (the reason why we use windows is because rarely do your parents EVER look in Windows because it contains sensitive material.) now go to Systems 32 (i prefer this folder the MOST cuz it is the most sensitive file in the computer.) k now create a folder that doesn't sound obvious so for example: create a folder called mswindologin not a folder called my porn and hacks and cracks
so you know what i mean. now create that fake folder do that by right clicking in systems 32 and select New -> Folder
within the fake folder create many subdirectories as many as you want i recommend at least 20. These subdirectories should be named: 0pv42 0pv43 7sd34 7sd35 and so on in one of those directories you should create a few more subdirectories and then, FINALLY you can safetly hide your "stuff" HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND THAT if you don't, reply.

Yeah, pretty nice. I find the best way is just to encrypt your files with a good encryption program (such as Norton). Or, if you don't want to go to all that trouble, just put them in a folder called 'READ ME'S'. Nobody ever looks at readme's.

XP has the hide feature. Or whatever they call it. Very useful in combination with the fact that anybody who would care enough to check wouldn't find it.

I have my account as the administrator on my machine, and everyone else has their little accounts... in which they cannot use my ISP, cannot install/remove programs, can't do shit really...

I'm using XP proffesional. Thanks for that tip Janke but I just delete my porn when I'm done...examining it. I haven't found that "hide" feature yet, though maybe you could tell me where it is Way2.

If there is a hide feature in XP it must be pretty well hidden. I can't find it. Oh the irony

There's no such feature.... you can set the folder settings to hide system files and the likes, but really the best thing to do is clean up after yourself, especially if there are multiple people using the computer. Now if your the only admin on the machine on a NT kernal machine, then no other user can view your profile, yet if there are other admins on the computer, then they can view your profile. Xp pro has an encryption utility, which is okay I suppose.... In the end it really depends on what your wanting to "hide."

Even if you delete when you are finished, it still remains. It isn't actually erased, just marked to be written over when something new is saved on the Hard Disk. Until it is written over, it can still be brought back by software such as Norton UnErase.

I love this one I do it all the time when I have files that I don't want anyone to see, but usual I hide it even deeper.

I just use floppies. I have about twent gazillion of 'em.
But, for bigger files (such as...movies, wink wink), there's the miracle of the CD-RW.

This is a good idea for those who are unfortunate enough that they are not allowed to be seeing porn. But I am graced with my own computer, privacy, and stuff. As I am allowed to surf that stuff anyhow .

As I am allowed to surf that stuff anyhow . Yes, but you can also use this for other "sensitive" materials. Like love letters. They're sensitive. Unless you're writing them to a convict named Bubba.
