Has anybody here ever attempted to or actually set up a Pirate Radio station?

Has anybody here ever attempted to or actually set up a Pirate Radio station? If I ever get my hands on the required equipment, I'm going to. It sounds extremely fun and quite interesting. Ever seen Pump Up the Volume?

Pirate Radio stations are very hard to setup. As when you broadcast, the law can pick up the signal and trace you. Plus the equipment is very expensive and you need to find a frequency no one else is using to avoid getting busted.

Actually, if you operate with a very low coverage area, and don't broadcast over anyone else's frequency, you're dandy. I don't remember the specific laws, though. And those might be obsolete, as I think I read it in Steal This Book.

As said earlier, if you don't steal a frequency, then you should be ok, as long as you don't profit

Has anybody here ever attempted to or actually set up a Pirate Radio station? I have the equipment here to transmit on nearly every frequency from just under 1Mhz to 900Mhz. Setting up an AM pirate station is very simple. Most HF Ham radio equipment can be modified to transmit through the entire HF range at 100 Watts. You can be on the air with high output and large coverage area for less then a few hundred, which includes antenna.

I was setting up an FM radio station before. I was building most of the equipment myself. I couldn't run it from home so it was going to be broadcast from my buddies gaff. But, he got caught dealing and went on the run, so that ended the plan
