Telnet is/ was a little client that allowed corporations and such to talk to each other and handle business transactions among other things. Telnet is owned by Sprint I believe. It is also an excellent tool for finding hacker targets, as you can connect to other machines on Telnet. But I do not know if it is really that popular anymore.

I don't really like Telnet, due to its real time nature. I use simple software I wrote a while back that waits for the enter key to be struck before sending information.

In addition, it appears, from my experiences on Telnet, that hardly anyone even uses that damn thing anymore. I can't connect to anything on there anymore.
