Co2 bombs are easy and most people know how to make them. You pierce the co2 whole at the top. This can be done by either using it up in a pellet/paintball gun or something else. Then, take a small funnel, pour some black powder into it. You should leave a little at top to stick in the fuse. Then you tap it gently to pack down the powder. And then stick in the fuse. Light and boom. Be sure not to throw it, or the powder might go everywhere and you'd get hurt. I've never done this before, so could someone tell me how far the shrappel goes? Also, how or where would I get a funnel that small.

For the funnel, you could roll a paper cone with no hole at the bottom, then use a razor or scissors to cut the tip of the cone to make a tiny hole.
Then pour the powder in over a container to catch anything spilt so it's not wasted.
As for the shrapnel, i would say it's hard to give a rule of thumb distance. I would just advise not to be in line of sight when it goes off.
Making these isn't my specialty, so maybe someone with alot more experience can let us know how far these things fly.

I've never made a CO2 bomb before so this might sound stupid....
I have an air pistol that runs on CO2 so I have quite a few little CO2 cans. But if you pierce the top by putting it into the gun then taking it out, the CO2 just sprays straight out and doesn't stop until it's empty. Is there a special type of CO2 can you're meant to use?

Nah i think he means release all the CO2 gas and fill it with black powder (gun powder) making like a mini pipe bomb.
So you use your empty canisters to make it then add a fuse and light ;D

i have made many in my day, and yes the shrapnel does travel very far. it sends metal flying in all directions like speeding bullets. if you get hit it WILL break the skin and depending how close you are it will probably get stuck inside you, and in some cases come out the other side. if you get hit in the head you will probably die. if you do decide to make one i strongly suggest that you 1. bury it, this will make it quieter but more safe 2. dig a hole and put it in so the shrapnel will get stuck in the dirt but it will still be just as loud 3. if your in a area with no other people/houses/animals (IE a farm or large field) light it and hide behind something like a brick wall, a boulder, or a large pile of dirt. if your new i suggest that you stick with cardboard casings.

Back in my more reckless formative years, I used to enjoy making small scale explosives. I made a few of these Co2 explosive, and I would have to say that they had quite a bit of power. Of course that might have had something to do with my using of pyrodex powder. I distinctly recall one Co2 cartridge that my friend placed in the fork of a small pine tree and lit. Well, for some reason the fuse which was a five inch section of cannon fuse ignited the charge before we could get to cover. I never got to see the actual flash. I just heard the concussion, and felt debris fragments of pine tree bark hitting me on the head and back of my neck. None of that really held my attention though, because an instant before, a mangled piece of aluminum about three inches long flew over my head close enough that I could have read the writing on it if it wasn't mangled, blackened, and traveling at least 150 mph. It took about 10 minutes to find the shrapnel, which was basicaly the whole Co2 cartridge, excepth that the top half and neck of it had spread out into a jagged aluminum flower.
I still have that damn piece of blackened aluminum to remind me why I don't play with homemade explosives. If you are going to make one of those damn things, just make sure you don't get sloppy.

Make sure there's something thick and solid between you and the COB. You can't outrun 200+ fps shrapnel...

What is everyone's definition of thick? Back in the day before I left LE stuff alone except for on holidays, i had made 100's of co2 gerandes. my frined and i used to hide behind a wall in a barn which was around 2 inches thick. we had a piece of shrapnel go completely through the wall one day. I have filled them with everything from black powder to double base powder, to various firework compositions including whistle and flash. The flash produces by far the loudest noise but it's also slightly more expensive than black powder. I still make co2 grenades from time to time when i'm bored as hell. I have noticed that my firecrackers which contain 1 gram of flash and have a compuer paper casing are pretty much just as loud as the co2 grenades which contain more around 7 grams. If I want to blow something appart I use a small amount of High Explosives, because they have that nice shattering effect that rips things appart without throwing pieces of sharp hot metal at my face.
My advice to everyone here is so stay away from anything that produces shrapnel in any way as you'll definately live longer. If that's just not an option I would hope you all atleast have the sense to use a LONG fuse (I always used 2 feet just incase I tripped while running and say broke my foot or something ya know), use some THICK ASS heavy cover thats a LONG distance away. Something metal like a car would work well. My cover ended up being a metal shed with a wall thickness of about half a centimeter which was around 50 yards away from the CO2 which was placed in a hole in the ground.
