Or how bulletproof their car is, or how many times they got shot. Or how they like to pretend to be bad by jumping on a car that they have paid for, with a guitar they just bought, on a street they had closed, and hitting the car acting like a badbitch. (badass didn't fit)
I think The Beatles were pretty good. Classic rock was great, Aerosmith maybe the coolest band ever.

i like a lot of today's underground punk/hardcore bands there is still a lot of talent out there, unfortunately most bands cant survive underground anymore. money is becoming so important these days that bands have to "sell out" to stay together. unfortuneatly it seems to me that as soon as they do get played on the radio the quality of their music seems to drop off. i used to be in love with bands like afi, but their new stuff just sux. ever since they went "mainstream" theyve been getting crappier and crappier. even thrice (my fav band) has become less intense with their music since their last cd. so in conclusion, there is still some good music out there, its just hard to hold onto.

I do think that good music, trully good music has passed us by. We are too concerned with our April Lanchings and 50 cents to worry about good music instead we worry about good image. They just want to be professional popular people, not musicians. This is one of my reasons for listening to metal... the music is about the music, not how much money they are making from it. well that's interesting that you listen to metal for that reason. But I am sorry to say, that well a lot of the metal bands are really in there to make the money. As the post above me says they just cant survive the underground and sell out and go mainstream. So I have to disagree with the idea that you should listen to metal for the reason you said. On the other-hand, I agree that it is important to listen to music that is NOT about the money, as that is real music about the music!!!

Have you heard her cover of Chop Suey? /me shudders. As for periods, I like (in kind of chronological order), ancient "tribal" music, the baroque and Rennaissance periods, some of the Harlem Rennaissance ragtime, bluegrass, '50s Sun Records type stuff, '60s hippie music, '70s hippie music and early punk, and of course classic rock, '80s punk and metal, and some '90s stuff.

Bands like Slipknot, Mushroomhead and The Berzerker wear masks to keep the focus on the music and not make them celebrities. Unfortunatly for Slipknot, It had the opposite effect. They became famous because of the masks, and numbers instead of names. Also, they then changed thier masks to look k3w1. The Berzerker wear masks that make them look like demons, and thier names are their instruments. Like in Slipknot, the vocalist is called '8' or by his name 'Corey Taylor', in The Berzerker the vocalist is known simply as 'The Vocalist'.
