Originally a 1958 William Castle film, this remake leaves a lot to be desired. Although the film is obviously a lot better than the original (if you watch the original, you will probably pass out from exhaustion... I'll give you three weeks steady laughing at the effects.)
The film starts off well, giving little away about what is coming. There is enough character building to do, but more could have either helped the film greatly or made it drag on too far before they get into "the house" where the action (if you can really call it action) begins. For quite a while into the film, nothing makes sense. When things start to make sense, the film get's unbelievably science-fictiony which the first portion of the film does not even hint towards in the slightest. This put me off the film, when I got to this stage, but of course I kept watching. Near the end there are some cool scenes, but the choice of... I can't think of the word, bad guy, or bad thing, the evil... it's just too far-fetched.
If the storyline doesn't interest you, at least there's some nice pussy to gloat at the whole way through the film.
I'll give it a generous D.
