Well music being someones life?
I guess we all have hobbies and interests and well, they really can be so beneficial to us. I remember doing a project for this same topic one time at school. actually, I must post the findings of it online somewhere. I found anyways, that most people who listen to a certain genre of music are very effected in their attitudes, mannerisms and dress sense by it.
I mean take a look around you and you can see almost ALL of the Marilyn Manson fans. Now I ask the question, the fact that music can have that kind of effect on your life that you would change for it, Is that a good thing???

Im going to take the Marily Manson fans as an example here but dont think Im stereotypical, itll just make it easier to answer the question. When I look at those fans dressed in their black covered in spikes and beads I realise that Yes being so affected by music is a good thing. Sure in a way they are categorising themselves but its just like a religion or a belief. They find it comforting to know that they arent the only people with a taste for metal, with family problems with any problems that come with teenage years. Its just a way for them to socialize. The interesting thing to see will be what our culture are like when that generation are adults. How will their children revolt? By listening to classical Jazz? We'll just have to wait a few years to find out

Hats off to you there Prometheus. It's obviously a topic you have thought about before and well I really just wanted to say, that was a very well written answer to my question.
I do agree that music effecting people as much as it does is a good thing to an extent. But you have to look at Hardcore metal scenes like the ones in Scandanavia (if thats how you spell it) were, they literally burn down churches and kill people for music. Now that can't be good!!!

That might be down to the music but then again it might be down to just simple Hatred of each other. Thankfully we dont see much of that insanity occuring in everyday life. It could be down to a cult-like situation arising where you have followers who raise their children into beliefs in what the music says and so it grows into insanity. Then again maybe it is happening everyday and we just dont hear about it. Television is a fickle bitch at times

Actually, music doesn't /effect/ my life, it /affect/s my life. It /has effect/s on my life. It doesn't affect me too much, but I know I'd be bored without it sometimes.

I don't look a bit like a metaller, and don't act like one. Most of the metallers I know irl are spastics, who only listen to the music and dress like that because it is now fashionable here. You walk down the street and see 6 y/o kids in Slipknot jackets and Marliyn Manson t-shirts, and they don't have a fucking clue about the music. It's just the fashion now. Me, I dress the way I feel comfortable. Jeans, soccer jersey, tracksuit jacket and a pair of runners and a shaved head.
The people here that I know in real life know what I'm talking about.

How does music effect my life? Well, I am a 100% pure metalhead. Only listen to rock and roll. With kazaa I can now get the stuff I want without burning away all of my budget. i would also get pretty bored without it at times.
